necessary restriction on its use

would be generally unacceptable to

the public.

purpose of a maritime museum.

Reception/Dining Rooms for Private

Functions

It was suggested to the Committee

that a concession should be granted

to one of the leading hotels on a

tender basis to operate the rooms

as a venue for receptions and dinners

held by various societies, associations

and organisations.

The fee payable

by the successful tenderer would

offset the initial renovation and

conversion costs estimated at $1.5

million and recurrent maintenance

costs. Not only would restrictions

on the use be difficult to enforce

and commercially unattractive, but
