IMMIGRATION POLICY ON DEPENDANTS FROM VIETNAM, LAOS AND KAMPUCHEA (CAMBODIA)
At the meeting of the Executive Council on 28th November, when Information Note XCCI(78)12 was considered (a copy of which is annexed), Honourable Members queried whether the restrictive interpretation of the sponsorship requirements in paragraphs 4 to 6 was intended for general application or whether it was to be limited to dependants in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

The Director of Immigration has confirmed that the sponsorship restrictions apply only to dependants living in (or originating from) Vietnam, Laos and Kampuchea and that these restrictions do not apply to other immigrants.
