(a)
In general CPG Exit and Re-entry Permits are valid for 3 months. Some are valid for two weeks. These are cases where holders intend only a brief visit in Hong Kong.
(b) Majority of the legal entrants returning to China are elderly people who
cannot adapt themselves to the life of Hong Kong. Others are those who have strong family connections in China and come to Hong Kong for only a social visit (attending wedding ceremony/dinner of immediate family members or visiting sick relatives etc). On rare occasions overseas Chinese also return to China if they fail to gain entry into and join close relatives in other countries.
