The figure of illegal immigrants interviewed and accepted as having 'evaded controls since 30 November 1974 is 17,141. The ratio of interceptions against evasions is now 1:3.89.
Macao
11.
1 illegal immigrant referred to this Department by the Marine Police during the month is still being processed. In addition, 8 cases where the illegal immigrants were arrested in previous months were finalised in February. 6 were removed to Macao and 2 were allowed to stay in Hong Kong.

An unlicenced motorized junk seized in November 1977 for conveying 16 illegal immigrants to Hong Kong were forfeited to the Crown in February.

Since November 1975, the total of illegal immigrants' interviewed and accepted as having entered from Macao is 1,710. Of these 182 were arrested, 1,250 surfaced through ROP claiming illegal entry from Macao and 278 surfaced through ROP falsely claiming illegal entry from elsewhere.
Registration of illegals

During February 578 persons (compared with 636 last month) registered with the Registration of Persons Office, claiming to have entered Hong Kong illegally from various sources.
