57. Mlegal immigrants were referred to this department by the Marine Police during the month. 56 were repatriated to Macao and 1 was allowed to stay. In addition, an illegal immigrant who was arrested by Police in January was repatriated to Macao in March.

12.

On 16 March, 53 illegal immigrants were arrested by the Marine Police on board an unlicenced shrimp trawler at Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter. A snakehead was later apprehended by the Police in Kowloon, He was prosecuted for aiding and abetting, convicted and sentenced to 2 years imprisonment on 30 March. An application for forfeiture of the junk is under process. 52 of the illegal immigrants were repatriated to Macao and the remaining one was allowed to stay as he was found to be a Hong Kong belonger,
