took this chance, regardless of the consequences, to close down

the school, dismiss the 16 teachers and suspend the study of

over 600 students. Such a move was a premeditated threat to

the righteous people so that in future they would not struggle

for justice and truth.

The teachers, students and parents strongly object to

the high-handed action of closing the school. They are extremely

dissatisfied with the attitude of the Education Department in

handling the school problems.

The following are their demands on the Government:

1. The immediate re-opening of the school.

2. The appointment of a commission of inquiry, not a

committee of inquiry, to investigate and publicize

the truth of the Golden Jubilee school issue.

33 The dismissal of Miss Hilda Kwan, the principal.

4. The restoration of normal school life.

5. The report of the investigations of the financial

irregularities open to the public.

6. The withdrawal of the warning letters for the 35

teachers.

7. Stricter measures be drafted to prevent any possibi-

lities of embezzlement in government aided schools.

8. The job security of teachers in government aided

schools be immediately reviewed and dismissal of

teachers strictly in compliance with the Code of Aid

issued by the Education Department.
