Dear Lord Goronwy-Roberts,

We the undersigned are two teachers from the Golden Jubilee Secondary School in Hong Kong where there has been a protracted struggle since early last year originating in our disclosure of grave financial irregularities at the School. The course of events is described in the brief summary attached herein and they have led to the dismissal of ourselves and fourteen colleagues and the closure of the School.

We have come to London to make the true facts of the case known because we have exhausted the meagre channels available to us in Hong Kong. Despite the overwhelming support of our students and parents, the public at large and most sections of the press, in Hong Kong we have met only with indifference, insult and a cover-up by the authorities. Our aims are to have the embezzlement and fraud fully and impartially investigated, these results published and for the re-opening of our School. In short, we have come to London to seek justice.

We read in the Hong Kong press in January this year that you consented to receive a delegation from the Hong Kong Government Shorthand and Audio Typists Association who had come to London to present their case. We hope that you will find it also possible to receive our delegation and allow us to present certain facts concerning this matter which we are sure that you are already aware is causing considerable public disquiet not only to the teachers, students and parents at the School involved but also to the Hong Kong public in general. We bring with us very full documentation of this issue and we would like to deposit this in your office and make ourselves available for any questions you may have to ask. We also bring with us a personal letter from Mrs. Elsie Elliott CBE and letters from the Professional Teachers Union and other organisations.

We are available at any date and time that would suit your Lordship during the next week with the sole exception of Wednesday July 5th between 3.30 and 5.00pm. Perhaps your secretary could contact us at the above address or by telephone, at your earliest convenience.

Yours faithfully, Fan May Yung Miss FAN May-yung
