alifications Required for Grades of Appointment
Certificated Master/listress
To be eligible for appointment to the grade of Certificated Master/
Mistress, a candidate must have
(a)
Teacher's Certificate from a College of Education in Hong Kong
obtained after a two-year full-time training course, or an
equivalent qualification;
OR
(b) Technical Teacher's Certificate obtained after a two-year full-
time technical teacher training course, or an equivalent qualification;
(c)

OR
Hong Kong Technical College Higher Diploma/Certificate, or equivalent qualification, PLUS one year's relevant practical
post-qualification experience;
OR
Hong Kong Technical College Ordinary Diploma, or equivalent qualification, FLUS either one year of full-time technical teacher training and one year of industrial and/or teaching experience, or, three years of industrial and/or teaching experience;
OR
Hong Kong Technical College secretarial or commercial certificate
or equivalent qualification, PLUS either one year of technical teacher training and one year of commercial and/or teaching experience, or three years of commercial and/or teaching experience;
OR
(f) A qualification other than (a) to (e) above, acceptable to the
Director of Education.
Assistant Master/Mistress

This is normally a promotion post for Certificated Masters/Mistresses. The conditions for promotion are set out in Appendix 19.
direct entry may be approved in the case of candidates who have
acceptable experience and are in receipt of salary supplementation notionally on the Assistant Master/Mistress salary scale in a
government assisted private school.
3. Senior Assistant Master/Mistress
This is a promotion post for Assistant Masters/Mistresses. The conditions
for promotion are set out in Appendix 19.
