INDO-CHINESE REFUGEES OTHER THAN BOAT PEOPLE:
Receiving and resettling other Indo-Chinese with special connections with Britain is continuing. The Government is giving sympathetic consideration to refugees who wish to join their relatives in the United Kingdom, even when these relatives are not in the position to provide accommodation and other help,. provided that BCAR undertakes to receive such people and help with their resettlement. During the course of October visas were authorised for 19 Vietnamese and 18 Laotians in camps in Thailand. These are relatives of refugees who had arrived in England quite recently and, therefore, are in no position to provide accommodation or any kind of sponsorship. BCAR is planning for them to be resettled near the relatives in Portsmouth, London and Liverpool.
