1. Mr Kimball of the US Embassy told me this morning, in reply to an enquiry I made of him yesterday, that he understood the US Administration had agreed to admit to the USA an additional 26,375 refugees as follows:-
21,875 from S.E. Asia (mainly Vietnamese and Cambodian refugees)
3,500 Cubans

2. He had no precise information about the breakdown of Indo-Chinese refugees to be admitted as between "land" and "boat" cases. Neither did he know from which particular countries they were to come. I heard a radio report this morning, however, which suggested the Americans would receive 15,000 from Malaysia, including any left on the SS Hai Hong who were not acceptable to other countries.
