One of our Executive Council members from Hong Kong recently attended a conference on rehabilitation at Brighton. He is Dr. Harry Fang who is a well-known figure in the field of rehabilitation and he was most impressed with an exhibition that was mounted in Brighton of transport equipment for the disabled. He told me that there will be the Sixth Pan Pacific Conference on Rehabilitation at Seoul in Korea from April 22-27, 1979. At this conference will be assembled the very specialised people who constitute the market for this type of equipment in the Asia and Pacific area. Dr. Fang thought it would be very worthwhile making a selection of the best transport equipment for the disabled to exhibit.

He tells me that stalls of 200 sq. ft. may be taken for US$200 and recommends that two stalls should be taken. George Wilson, the Executive Director of the Royal Society for Disabled and Rehabilitation would be able to put you in touch with a private organisation called Naidex which was, I believe, responsible for the impressive exhibition at Brighton.

Dr. Fang's idea was aired at a small dinner party for Mr. David Ennals, Secretary of State for Health and Social Services. Mr. Ennals was immediately taken with the idea and said he would give his support to any proposal by the Department of Trade to assist in such an exhibition.
