Dear Mr. Foot,
f
I wrote to you from Ebbw Vale at the end of last September and received a reply from your secretary dated 6th October, 1977.

The point at issue in my first letter was not to involve personally my husband's nephew and certainly not to attempt to obtain preferential treatment for him (which is why I did not give his personal details in my first letter), but to question the attitude of Labour Party politicians who come to Hong Kong for a short visit and upon departure are only too willing to criticize adversely the social welfare in Hong Kong.
I do apologise for the lengthy delay in my answering your secretary's letter but we left Britain in the middle of October and have not long been back in Hong Kong.

I appreciate that it might be helpful to have the name of my husband's nephew in order to know all the aspects of the situation, but I do sincerely trust you do not assume I am writing to you just in the hopes of his obtaining preferential treatment. His name is: Stephen Powell; his address: 8 Harford Square, New Town, Ebbw Vale;. and the hospital concerned is Neville Hall, Abergavenny.
I very much look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Deborah M.K. Hodgkiss
