advisable to accept those aged 55 and over at all? For those who have been contributing it seems reasonable to retain 60 as the ending date, although those wishing to continue to contribute should be allowed to do so (and to be eligible for sickness and injury benefits only) until 65 or the earlier exhaustion of such benefits. However,
we are not sure whether this would seriously undermine the scheme. We agree that death benefit should not be payable after 60.

Rather surprisingly, the response so far has not indicated any keen interest in a housing loan facility, probably because of the limited sum likely to be available. However, this facility appeared to appeal more to families with an income of over $3000, who would be eligible for the home ownership scheme where a down-payment is required as envisaged in the Green Paper.

The Governor will be visiting the United Kingdom in the latter part of April and would like to take the opportunity of discussing the scheme with you, John Stewart and Harry Hurst in the light of the above comments. I understand an appointment has been arranged for Monday, 24th at 11.00 a.m. and I shall be coming along too.
