Statutory provisions relating
to minimum wages
Ministerial Decision No. Kpts - 57/DP/1975 on the fixing of
a minimum wage standard for daily and monthly workers in national and foreign private undertakings
The Minister of Manpower, Transmigration and Cooperatives may, on the recommendation of the Head of the Regional Office and in view of Ministerial Decision No. 360/Kpts MEN/1974 and Ministerial Decision No. 982/Kpts/MEN/1974, determine the Minimum Wage Standard for daily and monthly workers in National and Foreign Private undertakings in a particular province.

Article 34 (Minimum wage)
1.
The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs may, if necessary, fix the minimum wage for workers engaged in a work or occupation.
2.
In case the Ministry is to fix the minimum wage under the preceding paragraph concurrance of the Labour Committee shall be required.
MALAYSIA
Wages Council Ordinance 1947 and Regulations
Minimum wages are prescribed by regulations made under the Wages Council Ordinance, 1947 which is being revised. Officials of the Malaysian Labour Department have promised to provide the Hong Kong Government with a copy of the revised law when it becomes available..

The minimum wage rates for agricultural and non-agricultural employees shall be those prescribed by law in force on the date this Code takes effect.
However,
the Secretary of Labour: may, to the extent to promote employment in severaly depressed areas, authorize
