Normal hours of work
For manufacturing industries and transportation:
Eight hours a day and 48 hours a week.
For commerce and services:
Nine hours a day and 54 hours a week.
For trades harmful to health:
Seven hours a day and 42 hours a week.
Title of legislation and scope of application
Labour Protection Law, 1972: By notification of the Ministry of the Interior issued under Articles 2 and 14 of the Announcement of the National Executive Council No. 103 dated 16th March 1972.
Excluded from the application of the law are:
(1) Central, Provincial and Local
Administrations;
(2) Domestic Servants;
(3) Agricultural work:
being
cultivation, forestry or husbandry, in which, in so far as the payment of wages and indemnity is not concerned, employees are not employed for the whole year and there is no work of other nature included;
(4) Hire of work which does not have economic profit as its objective.
