Normal hours of work
For male workers aged 18 years and above :
No statutory restriction on their hours of work. An eight-hour day is normally operated in large industrial establishments, the major shipbuilding and ship- repairing industries, government departments and firms run on Western lines.
For women and young persons (aged 14-17):
Eight hours a day and 48
hours a week.
Title of legislation and scope of application
The Factories and Industrial Un- dertakings Regulations. Statutory provisions relating to hours of work for women and young persons apply to all women and young per- sons employed in industrial un- dertakings except those in mana- gerial or clerical capacities or in any health or welfare service connected with such industrial undertakings.
Indonesia
Seven hours a day and 40 hours a week.
Act No. 1 of 1951. Article 10 of this law applies to all employees.
Korea

Eight hours a day and 48 hours a week.
For young persons (aged 13-17):
Seven hours a day and 42 hours a week, including educational hours within an establishment.
For harmful and dangerous work:
Six hours a day and 36 hours a week.

Labour Standards Law, 1953. Applicable to all works or plants, except for the works or plants where only the relatives living in the same household are employed, or domestic servants, or workers engaged in agriculture, fisheries and forestry, or such works or plants as may be provided by Presidential Decree.
Malaysia
Eight hours a day or 48 hours a week.
For children (aged below 14 years):
Six hours a day including school hours.
For young persons (aged 14 and 15 years):
Seven hours a day including school hours.
Employment Ordinance, 1955. Provisions of Part XII (Rest Days, Hours of Work, Holidays and Other Conditions of Service) apply to
manual and non-manual workers in receipt of wages not exceeding M$750 a month. According to official interpretation, the law applies to all manual workers irrespective of monthly earnings.
