in Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand employment injury schemes take the form of social insurance and the liability for contribution (less than 1.5% of payroll lip to 4.5% in Thailand) rests solely with employers. The benefits provided include cash payment to injured employees or their dependants, and medical care. In addition, Malaysia provides a constant attendance allowance, and limited funeral expenses are provided in Malaysia and Thailand.

In Korea employers are required to insure with a goverment agency, but in Singapore employers are r quired generally to take out insur nce with private insurance companies. Hong Kong and Indonesia are the only territories which leave the option of whether to insure open to employers themselves. benefits provided in these four territories include cash payment to injured employees or their dependants, medical care, constant attendance allowance (except for Korea; and funeral expenses (except for Hong Kong and Singapore). But in Hong Kong an employer is liable to pay medical and funeral expenses (up to a Laximum of $800) where a workmen leaves no dependents.
