As we agreed at our meeting with harry hurst, I got in touch with frofessor iuiner to try and discover what plans he has to round off his investigations.
Perhaps not surprisingly, I learnt that he has taken, he insists as the result of rcat pressure, another assignment. This time in Zambia. This took up most of the aster vacation and will take up the summer one too. he earliest that Professor urner could visit Hong on would therefore be Christmas but he did suggest, as an alternative, that he might produce an expanded version of the interim report with a charter of recommendations.
Neither of these two alternatives are satisfactory from our point of view. however, I did not feel able to adopt a stronger line without your agreement, so I suggested to Professor Turner that he might speak to you. he agreed to do so and undertook to
let me know the results of the conversation.
I have heard nothing more and I fear that perhaps the conversation never took place. Unless you did indeed reach an agreement whereby a final report will be produced fairly quickly, I would propose to write to Frofessor Turner stressing the importance we attach to getting a worthwhile report reasonably soon.
I should be grateful for your comments as soon as possible.
