Mr Thompson
PROFESSOR TURNER'S REPORT.
1. Please refer to my minute of 8 September. Is there any firm news about the date Professor Turner is likely to submit his final report? Information from the BHC in Lusaka suggests that Professor Turner has completed his enquiries in Zambia relating to the wage policies of that country and has returned to the UK. I would hope, therefore, that he would be available for an early visit to Hong Kong.
2.
My anxiety on this score is related to the need to consider at least a tentative date for the next meeting of the Overseas Labour Consultative Committee. As you know, this body provides an opportunity for the CBI and TUC to be consulted on Professor Turner's conclusions and recommendations.
