HONG KONG : PQ: MR RONALD ATKINS MP
1. I submit a draft reply and background note to the FQ put down by Mr Ronald Atkins MP (Labour Preston North) for oral answer by the Secretary of
State on 24 May.
2. Mr Atkins tabled 2 PQs on Hong Kong in 1976. He takes a critical interest in Hong Kong labour matters demonstrated when he put down 5 PQs for answer on 10 May about working conditions and child labour in Hong Kong. He has tabled another PQ for priority written answer on 24 May about the number of factory owners convicted last year for using
child labour.
3.
Parliamentary Unit inform us that the Question is unlikely to be reached and that supplementaries are therefore not required.
4. The answer has been agreed by the Hong Kong
Government.
