WHEN THE PROPOSED SCHEDULING PATTERN FOR THE E. AUSTRALIA ROUTE WITH 3 X B747 P.W. EACH CARRIER WAS EXAMINED BY THE AIRLINES

IN CANBERRA IT WAS AGREED THAT THE ONLY DAY LEFT UNCOVERED WOULD BE MONDAY (CANBERRA TEL 387 OF 4 AUGUST PARA 3). WE ARE FRANKLY PUZZLED AS TO WHY IT IS NOW DEEMED TO BE NOT POSSIBLE TO PRODUCE A BETTER SPREAD OF SERVICES THAN FIVE DAYS A WEEK. IS THIS BECAUSE THERE IS ONE DAY PER WEEK WHEN THE TRAFFIC DEMAND CONSISTENTLY EXCEEDS THE CAPACITY ONE B747 AND THEREFORE IT IS DESIRABLE TO FLY TWO SERVICES OR IS IT A QUESTION OF CONCLIFTING AIR LINE PREFERENCES THAT COULD BE IRONED OUT BY A POOLING AGREEMENT. IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO HAVE AN ASSESSMENT OF JOINT REVENUES OF THE TWO AIRLINES FROM A YEAR-ROUND FIVE DAY PER WEEK OPERATING PATTERN

AS OPPOSED TO A SIX DAY A 'EEK.
