1. WE HAVE JUST RECEIVED A TELEX FROM MAS REQUESTING APPROVAL TO ALTER THE SEATING CONFIGURATION OF THEIR DC 10 AIRCRAFT FROM 26 F CLASS/226 EY UP TO 30 F CLASS/ 235 EY, IE AN INCREASE OF 13 SEATS OVER THE 252 SEAT CONFIGURATION PRESENTLY OPERATED ON THE TRUNK ROUTE (2 X DC 10 PER WEEK) AND IN THE REGION (3 X DC 10 PER WEEK.) THEY HAVE ALSO ASKED THAT AN ANZ DC 10 WHICH THEY ARE LEASING FROM 3 APRIL 15 APRIL FOR REGIONAL OPERATIONS DURING MAINTENANCE OF ITS OWN AIRCRAFT (WHICH WE APPROVED: BY STABLES LETTER OF 2 FEBRUARY 78, COPIED TO HONG KONG AND BCARFE) BE OPERATED IN A 268 (24 F CLASS/244EY) SEAT CONFIGURATION.
2. THE RECENT CHU PERMITTING MAS DC 10 OPERATIONS ON THE TRUNK ROUTE CONTROLS AIRCRAFT TYPE BUT NOT SEATING CAPACITY AND I DO NOT THINK WE WOULD NORMALLY HAVE OBJECTED TO THE NEW CONFIGURATION FOR THEIR LONDON SERVICES. HOWEVER ON THE REGIONAL ROUTE THE ROGERS/MAHADZAR LETTER OF 29 SEPT *76 GIVING APPROVAL TO 3 X DC 10S RECORDED THAT THE BASIS WAS A MAXIMUM NUMBER OF SEATS OFFERED OF 252 PER AIRCRAFT.
