CLEARANCE OF AIR TARIFFS WITH DEPENDENT TERRITORIES
1. On 6 January I attended a meeting at the DOT at which

2. Over the last two years or so the CAA have had increasing difficulty in securing the early agreement of dependent territories, especially those in the Caribbean, to tariff proposals. As a result, British Airways have had to employ tariffs which have been one to two years out of date.

4. This department, together with Legal Advisers and the geographical departments, will need to be involved in the final drafting of the second paper. We will need to discuss how best to put the message across and to bear in mind external factors, eg forthcoming independence, which may have a bearing on the subject.
