The Hong Kong Heritage Society has collected a total of 14,360 signatures which, for comparison's sake, is about double the turnout for the

Urban Council elections. Recently we set up a desk outside the portico of

the old station and in a matter of 5 days, at just one place, collected

7,936 signatures. It is very evident that many ordinary llong Kong people

positively wish the building to stay. People were queuing up to sign. We

made a point of asking them the kind of work they do and you will be

́interested to know that they were, for example, shop workers, factory

workers, and clerks. Others who have given their support include the

Conservancy Association.

Your Excellency's support for this outstanding opportunity to

improve Hong Kong's urban environment in this area would be greatly

appreciated.

We are, Sir,

Yours Respectfully,

(David Russell.

Chairman).

THE HONG KONG HERITAGE SOCIETY.
