The K.C.R. Station building is there now and could be in aotive use in a short space of time, way ahead or 1982, the targut date for completion of the Cultural Complex. The building is capable of fulfilling many functions related to that of a City Hall. Members of the public have shown enthusiasm for the re-use of the

building.

10. The Marine Police Station Hill had a large and well kept lawn,

now with sheds on it, but the old shady trees are still there. With

little expense it could be turned into a public rest area, with view of the Cultural Complex, and very convenient and suitable for

tourists and concert goura,

11. The Cultural Complex should be designed in accordance with the expressed wishes of the people. The ultimate clients of the Publio Works Department are not just the Urban Council, they are the ordinary

people.

12. The K.C.R. Station buildings should be conserved for reasons of

The buildings are a landmark and symbol of Hong Kong. It is held in much affection by liọng Kong belongers, Kowloon residents, people

of the New Territories, and expatriates.

The polystyrene outline model, rough sketches and diagrans of the proposed Cultural Complex were first displayed at the end

of 1974.
