FOREWORD
This report recommends a transport strategy for the Island Corridor and has been prepared by the Study Team. The time available for the Study Team to discuss the implications of the detailed aspects of the recommended strategy with the transport operators and the various government departments has been strictly limited. Many detailed and helpful discussions have taken place with members of the Steering Group but it is acknowledged that no operator or government department can be committed to the Study Team's recommendations until they have had an opportunity to consider more fully the detailed implications.
The Study Team are confident however that they have examined those detailed aspects which could influence the overall feasibility of the recommended strategy. If the strategy as a whole is generally acceptable the Study Team believes that a determined implementation programme involving the transport operators and the government departments concerned will be able to resolve the inevitable and
detailed problems that will arise.
