such matters as air, noise, water and land pollution, as well as visual intrusion of the proposed station and power transmission system, would be appraised by the Environmental Protection Unit and considered by EPCOM, When all the information required is available, a Final EIS would then be prepared, which should demonstrate the care taken by both the Government and HEC in ensuring that any adverse impact of the new power station will be minimised and that the residual impacts are acceptable.

Members will be asked to :
(a)
advise whether Site 'A' on Lamma Island, as shown in the plan at Annex C, should in
principle be granted to the Hongkong
Electric Company Limited for a power station comprising 2 x 250 megawatt generating sets; and
(b)
note that, subject to (a) above, a further submission containing details, including the basic terms of grant, will be presented to them in due course.
