THREE-WAY DEAL SEEN AS PURE SPECULATION

The Senior British Trade Commissioner, Mr. D.M. March, is of
the opinion that a foreign news agency report on the recent mining deal involving HK, China and Britain is "pure speculation", for up to now, the British Government has not made any announcement to this effect.
However, he agreed that if the reported multi-million dollar
deal were concluded, the existing friendly relationship between China and Britain would be further strengthened.
US COMPANY TO SET UP CHINAWARE FACTORY IN HK

According to reliable sources, a U.S. company has decided to
set up a chinaware factory in Tai Po Industrial Estate. Its Phase I Develop-
ment Project will begin at the end of this year or early next year, producing mainly chinaware, crockery, cutlery, flooring tiles and wall tiles.
"Ferro", the said company, investing about HK 10 million in its
Phase I Project, be the first overseas company setting up a factory
in Tai Po Industrial Estate.
