The Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II is one of the greatest historical events of our generation, and so it is appropriate that the Cayman Islands have chosen this Jubilee year to announce the issue of two important numismatic collec- tions the "Silver Queens Collection" and the "Gold Queens Collection". These unique collections of limited edition proof silver and gold coins have been officially authorized only for the Jubilee Year. They will never be issued again! The rarity and value of these collections will be insured forever because they are available only to those subscribers who order no later than September 30, 1977.
The Silver Queens Collection contains six (6) brilliant proof silver coins, five (5) $25 coins with individual por- traits of the Queens and one (1) $50 silver coin featuring exquisite cameo portraits of the five former Sovereign Queens on the reverse. The massive $50 silver coin is one of the highest denomination legal tender silver coins ever issued as well as one of the largest from the standpoint of its imposing physical size.
TWO IMPORTANT NUMISMATIC FIRSTS
The Gold Queens Collection, containing five (5) proof $50 gold coins and one (1) $100 gold coin of similar designs to the matching silver coins, is notable in that it offers collectors two important numismatic firsts.
The $50 gold coins are the first gold coins of this denomination ever issued by the Cayman Islands, and as you well know, new denominations are always eagerly sought by collectors.
