Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness Prince Philip are now visiting the Crown Colony of Bermuda. the first stop on their official tour of nations in the Western Hemisphere.
To appropriately commemorate this historic Royal Visit, the Bermuda Monetary Authority has ordered the minting of a new monetary gold coin.
This will be the first one hundred dollar gold coin in the history of Bermuda, and will be the largest denomination coin ever issued by the Bermuda Monetary Authority,
The face of the coin will feature the traditional portrait of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse will bear the Royal Cyphers of H.M. Queen Elizabeth I and H.R.H. Prince Philip, together with the Parliamentary Mace of the nation of Bermuda.
OFFICIAL MONETARY COIN
As official legal tender in Bermuda, this new $100 gold coin will circulate there with a face value equal to $100 U.S. In Canada, it can be freely exchanged at foreign money ex- change centers and designated banks. Since the value of this coin is not subject to daily fluctuations in the market price of gold, it provides a high degree of protection against loss.
At the same time, this important gold coin has excellent pasential for increase in value because of its beauty, its com- memorative significance and its precious gold content. As a result, the numismatic value of this gold coin may in time far exceed both its face value and the value of its gold content. Moreover, the $100 Bermudu gold coin offers other specific and unique advantages to the buyer. It is not subject to the usual commission fees, insurance and other charges asseci- ated with the purchase of gold bars. And it need not be assayed when it is bought and sold.
In inflationary times such as ours, monetary gold coins like the $100 Bermuda gold coin, can be especially desirable to own. Recent history demonstrates how the value of gold
coins has dramatically increased. For example, a $20 Canadian gold coin minted in 1967 is now worth at least ten times its face value-not only because of its gold content but its numismatic value as well. Such is the value of gold coins as collector's treasures.
