It was agreed that these figures would be examined at a technical meeting to be held at the Commission on 26 June 1978, and that any questions of substance which arose would be referred to the Article 113 Committee.
2. Criteria governing the implementation of Article 115
of the Treaty
The United Kingdom delegation reiterated the procedural suggestions it had made at a previous meeting of the Committee [see S/937/78 (COMER 97), page 157.
The Commission representative took note of the wish expressed by several delegations that a meeting should be held on this subject with appropriate Commission officials attending.
It was agreed that, if such a meeting could not be held, the procedure suggested by the United Kingdom delegation would be reconsidered.
3. Imports of trousers originating in the Philippines
The French delegation, referring to the considerable increase in exports to the Community of category 6 trousers originating in the Philippines and to the figures available for the current year, stated that, at the appropriate time, the Commission should consider initiating consultations with a view to introducing a Community limit for these imports, as the present regional limits might prove inadequate.
This delegation, supported by the United Kingdom delegation, considered that this was a practical case for applying the Commission's right to initiate requests for basket withdrawals.
