Nomenclature Committee
14. Boinon (Commission) reported briefly. Dungarees or overalls (trousers with an upper part) will now be classified as Category 6. This will require a change in the statistics. A decision had been taken on windcheaters. There were difficulties in classifying leisure garments. The need for textiles experts to attend the Committee was very clear since decisions taken were not always compatible with trade flow. Difficulties could also be expected in transmitting decisions taken to Customs posts and might require the formation of an Ad Hoc Group of textiles experts and Customs officials. A detailed discussion next week in the Management Group would be useful.
15. On UK classification difficulties in Category 80 with Hong Kong the Commission recommended a bilateral solution.
G. Miscellaneous
16. A request by Thailand for an increase of 200 tonnes on the German quota for unbleached cotton fabric will be discussed next week.
