Sir,
Enclosed is a Recommendation for a Council Regulation concerning the conclusion of the Agreement between the European Economic Community and Hong Kong on trade in textile products.
This Agreement was drafted following the negotiations which the Commission conducted with Hong Kong in accordance with the Council Decision authorizing the Commission to open such negotiations.
The Commission recommends that the Council adopt the bilateral Agreement and adopt the necessary decisions con- cerning the signing thereof.
The provisions of this Agreement are applicable de facto as from 1 January 1978.
The Council is required to act on the Recommendation before the end of 1978.
