The position between the Government and industry remains much as it

has been for some time: departments want to hear about the particular

concerns of industries which industries feel they may not fully know about;

they also want to be available to answer any questions industries may have;

but they do not at the present time have any matters on which they

specifically need to consult industry. But the negotiations may move

quickly and consultation on various aspects may be necessary at short

notice. It is not possible to forecast when this is likely to be but it

could be very soon or it could be as late as say March, 1978. The normal

point of contact for industry remains the various sponsoring divisions

for the most part in the Department of Industry and the MFF.
