been allocated, and the remaining shop and flats are expected to be

The Director of Water Supplies has recently raised this issue with
the consulting engineers' resident site staff, and it has since been
agreed with the Director of Audit that a joint examination of the
High Island Water Scheme Reservoir Contract will be made by the
Audit Department and the Waterworks Office shortly.

The
The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals receives a deficiency subvention for which the rules require the Group to operate in
accordance with approved budgets. On routine matters, however,
the Group is basically responsible for its own management.

that two senior posts should be created a Chief Executive with full
responsibility for the organisation of the Group and a Chief Accountant
responsible for financial control. Hopefully the recruitment of these
two staff will considerably improve the day-to-day running of the
Group. The Medical and Health Department will also be assigning
staff to monitor more closely the use to which medical subventions
are put. They will concentrate on expenditure on personal
emoluments. The objective is closer scrutiny of the establishment,
both professional and non-professional, to ensure that no more than
adequate staff is provided and that all staff are effectively employed.
