No manufactured explosives and no other explosive goods or materials shall be transported ithin the lot or to or from the lot except in vehicles specifically approved by the Commissioner of Mines for this purpose.

(22)

The purchase shall pay to the Secretary of State for Defence on demand any sum which the Director of Public Works shall certify to be the cost of making good any damage done to adjoining roads by the purchaser, his contractors or sub-contractors or his or their workmen or vehicles or by any spoil from the lot.

(23) The purchaser shall construct and maintain at his own expense and to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Works such drains and channels, whether within the boundaries of the lot or on Crown land, as the said Director may consider necessary to intercept and convey into the nearest stream-course, catch-pit, channel or storm-water drain all storm-water or rain-water falling or flowing on to the lot, and the purchaser shall be solely liable for and shall indemnify the Government and its officers from and against all actions, claims and demands arising out of any damage or nuisance caused by such storm-water or rain-water.

(24) Any damage or obstruction caused by the purchaser, his servants or agents to any nullah, sewer, storm-water drain, watermain or other properties of the Secretary of State for Defence within or adjoining the lot shall be made good by the Government at the cost of the purchaser, and the amount due in respect the reof shall be paid on demand to the Government by the purchaser.

(25) The drainage of any building erected on the lot shall be effected as may be required by the Director of Public Works, and the purchaser shall make all arrangemert s at his own expense and to the satisfaction of the said Director for the treatment and disposal of foul or contaminated water by the construction, operation and maintenance of suitable works either within the lot or on Crown land or otherwise and on such terms as the said Director shall require, and the purchaser shall be solely liable for any damage or nuisance caused the reby.

Flush Drainage (26)

Disposal of trade effluent etc.

The Government does not undertake to provide facilities for flush drainage and gives no guarantee that such facilities will become available.

(27) The purchaser shall not discharge or cause or permit or suffer to be discharged into the waters of Hong Kong, any public sewer, storm-water drain, channel or stream-course, any trade effluent or foul or contaminated water or cooling water without the prior written consent of the Director of Public Works, who shall as a condition of granting his consent require the purchaser to provide, operate and maintain at his own expense and either within the lot or otherwise and to the satisfaction of the said Director suitable works for the treatment and disposal of such trade effluent or foul or contaminated water or cooling water.
