I have been away on leave since we last spoke over the telephone and I would now like to record our thanks for your assistance
in our efforts to obtain the right to manufacture slurry explosives in Hong Kong.
We are very disappointed that the Hong Kong Government awarded the tender to Du Pont in spite of a strong bid by ICI which included a bid for the land significantly higher than Du Pont's and a total slurry technology which has as good an international reputation as Du Pont's.
It is our intention to continue to sell explosives and accessories in Hong Kong and we understand that the Hong Kong Government will facilitate this by continuing to make adequate storage space available.
As you kindly arranged for the Department to pass a copy of my original note on the subject to the Governor, I am enclosing a copy of this letter which could also be passed to him.
