OUTLINE PLAN
GENERAL CONCEPT
13.
Reinforcements to be provided under this plan will be from Brunei and from the UK. It will be decided at the time from which theatre the reinforcements are to come but both sources could be involved. reinforcements are:
The
a. From Brunei. The Gurkha battalion, organised into five companies for IS role. Should the reinforcement requirement be more than short term, this unit would be relieved by a unit from the UK.
From the UK. An infantry battalion (1) in IS role,a KAF Regiment Field Squadron and some individual reinforcements.
10.
REQUEST FOR REINFORCEMENTS
14. The Commander British Forces (CBF) Hong Kong, after consultation with HE The Governor, is responsible for:
Warning the Chiefs of Staff that reinforcements may be required so that they may be brought progressively to appropriate notice.
b. Requesting the Chiefs of Staff to despatch the reinforcements
The Foreign required by reference to Serial Numbers at Annex A. and Commonwealth Office (FCO) will consider, in consultation with MCD whether the request should be met and will obtain the necessary political approval.
AUTHORISATION
15. The Chief of the Defence Staff, as Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, will, on receiving notification of approval of the request, authorise implementation of the plan by message (para 23) to the following (Joint Service signal message addresses are shown in brackets):
