REPLACEMENT OF LOCAL LABOUR IN HONG KONG

JOINT THEATRE PLAN NO 68 (FOURTH REVISE)

INTRODUCTION

1. Service establishments in Hong Kong normally depend for their efficient operation on the use of locally employed labour and on certain civil installations continuing to function.

2. The employment of Service personnel may be necessary to maintain essential services if labour is withdrawn; replacements from the United Kingdom (UK) may then be required. This plan caters for such replacement on any scale up to the maximum numbers listed in the Annexes.

There may be a security threat at the time this plan is implemented. It should therefore be read in conjunction with Joint Theatre Plan (JTP) No 30 Reinforcement of Hong Kong.

4. To replace local labour in Service establishments and essential civil installations in Hong Kong by Service personnel from the UK.

FORCES

Replacement requirements to be provided from UK resources are detailed in Annexes as follows:

Royal Navy

Annex A (Blue).

Army

Annex B (Pink).

Royal Air Force

Annex C (Green).

Strike Command aircraft with supporting elements

Movement Resources.

will be required to move replacement personnel.

7. If an Eastabout Route is to be used. Individual reinforcements for the support of RAF Akrotiri:

a. Army. If required up to 10 Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC) (storemen) for Headquarters (HQ) RAOC Cyprus from Annex D.

NOTICE

8.

Royal Air Force. As requested from those listed at Annex E.

Replacement Personnel. Personnel nominated as replacements are to be at normal notice (7 days) to emplane. If sufficient warning is given, this may be reduced to intermediate (72 hours) or short notice (24 hours).
