Illustrations of possible Patrol Craft
Replacements
1.
A Vickers Vedette, between the size of the frigate and the patrol craft, could cost between £10 m. and £12 m. (at September 1974 prices).
2. A 'Tenacity' type vessel a 46 metre Fast Patrol Boat, which combines high speed (40 knots) with a full weapon control system (a 3" 76 mm-gun and four long range surface-to-surface missiles) as well as smaller calibre secondary armament, could cost between £5 m. and £7 m.
Tenacity patrol boats are in service with the Royal Navy, where they have a complement of 8 officers and 20 ratings.
