PART C NAVIGATION, DIRECTION AND RADAR

WARNING AND DIRECTION RADAR. A high definition ground stabilised radar i

required with good range/bearing discrimination and giving maximum range consistent with practical aerial height. Part B, paragraph 2 refers.

NAVIGATION ARRANGEMENTS

a. The Bridge arrangements may consist of either a small enclosed conning

position with 'flying bridge' or a larger enclosed space with bridge wings.

Ready access is required between the open and enclosed areas. Both should

be protected against small armed fire as far as is practical (Part H para ld

refers). A combined Bridge/Ops Room is required.

b. Bridge hand control of steering and all engines is required (Part A,

para 5b refers). An auto steering system is also required.

C. NCS1 or equivalent (see Part B para 2) and 1 magnetic compass.

Repeaters are required on open and closed bridges giving as near all round

arcs as possible.

d. Two bridge radar displays (max range 60 nm) compatible with selected radar (para 1). Both 'north up' and one positioned at Chart Table. Both

displays to be fitted with Reflector Plotters.
