3. SPEED

A maximum sustainable speed of not less than 25 knots in Sea State 3,

without undue crew discomfort, is required.

b. The vessel is to be capable of prolonged cruising at 8 knots in up to Sea

State 5, without undue crew discomfort. A lower sustainable speed is desirable.

NOTE The above speeds are to be achievable throughout the range from clean and

lightly loaded to deep and dirty in temperate waters, and for the

anticipated life of the craft.

MAIN MACHINERY ARRANGEMENT

The main machinery is to be diesel, from DG Ships approved commercial

LIMITATIONS ON DIMENSIONS

&. The vessel should be capable of sustaining 15 knots in Sea State 4 without

undue crew discomfort, It should also be capable of riding out a typhoon and

operating in open waters for up to 10 days. A minimum water line length of 45m

is considered necessary to meet these requirements and those stated in

paragraph 3 above.
