Minutes, paragraph 5.3 Annex C, paragraph 3g

While accepting that the first craft should be built in the UK, the Hong Kong Government have stated a desire for this vessel to be covered by one tender/order and for a second tender invitation to be issued for the remainder covering

suitable shipbuilders in Hong Kong. They have agreed that the most suitable tender (UK or Hong Kong) should be accepted.

51.

NOTE The Ship Department have not been able to identify any UK ship builder with Hong Jong subsidiaries, which might have facilitated a UK/local build

programme.

COLLABORATION

Although NST 7015 was not jointly sponsored, the RAP han a

need to replace its SFAL Class vessels and has issued ASR 10027 to this end.

The two requirements follow a similar timescale and contain many common basic

characteristics. It is likely, therefore, that the hull and propulsion units

selected for the proposed Hong Kong Patrol Craft would also meet the RAF need

[DS4 to advise iaw LM DNOR 22617/2/2 of 30 Nov 787

53.

Other Government Agencies. The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Scotland (DAFS) operate 3 inshore fishery protection craft. They have stated that the proposed patrol craft might be an option when these vessels come to the end

of their lives, although it is possible they will look to vessels with a dual offshore/inshore capability.

54.

SA LES

Recent forecasts suggest that there is an accessible world market for 49 similar craft in the period to 1983.
