55. Apart from normal police duties the force is trained and equipped for riot and para-military duties. The regular force, in addition to its Divisional/ District organisation, can be formed into 29 riot companies, each of 168 all ranks. Five of these companies are always undergoing training and a further 24 riot companies can be formed at short notice for emergencies.
