a. China Light and Power Company (CLPC). Electricity generation is carried out partly by China Light and Power Company (CLPC) and partly by the Pen- insula Mectric Power Company (PEPCO). PEPCO runs the power stations at Tsing Yi 'A' (D3) (720 megawatts (MW)), Tsing Yi 'B' (D3) (842 MW) and Hok Un 'C' (D3) (240 MW). Operation of the plants is in the hands of CPLC who have their own stations at Hok Un 'A' and 'B' (D3) (total 410 MW) and a number of diesel sets (total 6 MW).
b.
Hong Kong Electric Company Ltd (HKEC). HKEC operates two inter- connected thermal (oil-fired, steam driven) power stations at North Point, installed capacity 271 megawatts and Ap Lei Chau (D2), installed capacity 631 megawatts. Frequency and load are adjusted by a modern system control computer, located at the Bowen Control Centre, Kennedy Road. Operational procedures at the two stations are controlled by a second computer at the Ap Lei Chau power station. A further generating plant capable of pro- ducing 125 megawatts is due to be commissioned at Ap Lei Chau in 1978.
45. Overall capacity now amounts to about 3127 megawatts including minor diesel capacity - about 70 megawatts - on Cheung Chau Island (C2).
46. Power is transmitted at 132 and 66 kilovolts, alternating current. High voltage distribution is at 33 and 11 kilovolts ac. Transmission and dis- tribution are mainly by underground cable, owing to the prevalence of high force winds, but there are short lengths of 132 kilovolt overhead transmission line. Low voltage distribution is at 346/200 volts, ac, three-phase four wire 50 Hz with the neutral point earthed.
Royal Navy
47. The Royal Navy presence consists of:
Captain-in-Charge, Hong Kong and a small staff.
