Dear Mr. Upton,
You were kind enough to talk to me briefly on the telephone yesterday regarding the State of Hong Kong towards the end of this century. From time to time the attractions of purchasing shares registered in Hong Kong presents itself purely on trading grounds and obtaining an interest in the economy of the Far East for U.K. investors. Occasionally I am asked the question, what happens to Hong Kong at the end of this century and how, therefore will it affect my investment advice. This I find difficult to answer except to say that it is still twenty years away and I am merely concerned with the next three to five years or so. Nevertheless the question will have to be answered sooner or later and I should be most grateful for any comment and information you may have which you feel may be of interest to me and my clients.
