Lord Goronwy-Roberts confirmed that the work of the Commission would continue to have the full support of the British Government as it had during the police disturbances of last year. He explained that the Secretary of State and Parliament take a very close interest in this aspect of life in Hong Kong and concluded the meeting by wishing Sir Donald Luddington luck in his new role. He again emphasised that ICAC should itself be investigative and initiative as well as co-operative with the departments.
