but now I believe group sizes have been between 200 and 300 at times. These are only some of the tours to China the Kweilin/Nanning Tour every Sunday and the Peking Tours are some of the others being operated thorough Hongkong. Each of these tour participants must be in Hongkong at least 3 working days prior to their departure for China for visa purposes. Various interests have resulted in China and Britain forging better and closer ties. This will inevitably be reflected in Hong Kong.
China and Hong Kong are embarking on various activities, ranging. from economic matters to tourism, which are beneficial to both places. The latest developments make one feel optimistic about the future. "One can drink to that."

China and Hong Kong have been forging closer ties in economic matters and tourism in recent months. The people of Hong Kong should feel more confident about living here and developing their businesses.

The pragmatic and business-wise rulers of China today clearly recognise that in the expansive era ahead, as the People's Republic launches heavily into major economic development. the expertise and business links which Hongkong offers will be both highly valued and increasing- ly exploited.
And while legalists would undoubtedly welcome a binding assurance that investments will be secured beyond 1997, that will have to wait until much nearer that time to see what kind of a formula can be devised.
Not the least important is the evident Chinese desire to establish closer transport links with Hongkong for these benefit not only the tourist and businessman, but that far larger community of local people who wish to maintain, renew or build up their ties with the mainland.
This in turn contributes greatly to more natural ties between the two cities, the one with its gateway to the world and the other to China.
