The China Travel Service is planning to appoint more local travel agents to sell its increasingly-popular tours to foreigners.
Jardine Matheson and Company Limited recently joined the list of appointed agents, making a total of 11 in Hongkong.
When the tours were first organised less than a year ago, only two local agents were appointed.
One of the appointed agents said little commission can be gained from such tours and agents treated these trips as a kind of service to customers.
Each appointed agent acts as a booking agent and provides information to interested individuals.

In addition, the China Travel Service is also organising its tours for both local Hongkong residents and foreigners.
By appointing local agents, this could help to boost its travel business further.

Macau is set to offer one-day trips into China from next year.
The main attraction will be the nearby birthplace of the Chinese republican leader, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the Macau Tourism Minister, Dr. Jorge Rangel, said today.

Over 10,000 foreigners, including those living in Hong Kong and those who came to Hong Kong for sight-seeing, visited Peking, Shanghai and other places in China in the first ten months of this year.
As people demanding to tour China are on the increase, the China Travel Service plans to multiply the number of tourist groups and start new itineraries next year.
There will be eight itineraries for foreign tourists next year.

The new entrance-exit policy implemented by customs offices in Shumchun and the Kungpei gate in Macau allows travellers to leave by either of these points no matter which way they came in.
Passengers going to Canton from Hongkong by air can now leave by train or the planned hoverferry.
Visitors from Hongkong will be able to return via Macau.
They just need their travel documents stamped at the Hongkong-Macau Wharf.
