CHINESE VISITORS TO THE ROYAL OBSERVATORY, HONG KONG
For the record you may wish to know that five Chinese scientists paid a visit to the Royal Observatory here on 13 March. They had arranged their visit through NCNA. Three of them, including the leader TAO Shih- yen of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, vere delegates at a meeting in Manila of the 7 M O Comission for Atmospheric sciences. The other two had attended a meeting in Singapore of the Who Regional Association II working Group on Meteorological Telecommunications. There were no points of political interest during the visit although TAC mentioned that research on stratospheric science which had been stopped because of the "Gang of Four" was now resuming. He expressed every willingness to cooperate with the Royal Observatory in research and operational meteorology and said he was pleased to continue the free exchange of technical publications between Hong Kong and Chila.
